Fringes are a really big trend this season but so many people are scared that it might not suit them! The key to the perfect fringe is to find the right shape for your face. A thick fringe can make you look fuller whereas a wispy fringe can make your look. We take a look at the most common face shapes and the best fringes that suit them!
Square Face
Eye grazing bangs, tapered on the sides will add a soft element to square face shapes.
Ask your stylist to cut it just below the brows, leaving the heaviest pieces on the sides so they don’t mask your eyes. Center strands can be feathery allowing a little forehead to peek through so your bangs won’t overwhelm your face.
Round Face
A gentle arch fringe will compliment soft, feminine features. Fringes often tend to make round faces appear fuller but the way to avoid this is to find the right shape for your face.
A graphic, curved shape fringe will flatter your bone structure. Ask your stylist for a thick fringe rather than a wispy fringe to avoid looking fuller.
Oval Face
Those with oval shaped faces are lucky enough to be able to pull off any fringe as every type of fringe is flattering on you!
The most requested fringe that will accentuate your best facial features without feeling bulky are airy, pin-straight ones.
Our stylists recommend asking for a fringe that hits between the brow and the eyelash and are no longer than the edges as this will allow you to wear them swept aside or straight with a middle parting!
Heart Shape
Heart-shaped faces are often top heavy and you need a balancing effect to draw down towards the eyes. So the ideal fringe for those with heart-shaped faces are side-swept bangs.
Ask your stylist for a layered, feathered bang where the shortest pieces hit the arch of your eyebrows and the longest meet the outer corner of your eye – the most flattering look for your face!
Hair is a major part of our lives and the most important thing to remember is if it makes you happy, go for it! These are just guides to find a shape that suits you, they are not definitive and we recommend you have a consultation with your stylist before jumping in.
