Messy Updos – The Best Style for your Big Day

Pinterest is busy with bridal inspo at the moment and the most common fixture on people’s boards are messy bridal updos. The Pins for this more relaxed look sky rocketed by a whopping 1247% according to Pinterest’s 2018 Wedding Report.

With the excitement of the Royal Wedding, summer brides are taking a massive inspiration from the new Ductchess of Sussex’s hair choice – the messy updo.

Royal and celebrity stylist, Richard Ward tells Get the Gloss  how to achieve the best messy updo for your big day.

Richard says,

“Everyone suits an updo but it needs to be tailored to your face shape”

Square Shape

If you have a square shape face, Richard suggests a looser updo with loose face framing pieces to soften the angles of the face. This creates a stunning romantic look and giving you a more feminine vibe.

Heart Shape

If you have high cheek bones and a heart shaped face, your cheek bones can be accentuated by keeping hair off the face.

For all the short hair brides, don’t feel like you can’t opt for this hair style. Tong hair first, regardless of length as this will add volume and texture which will make it easier to style.

Get Ahead of the Trends This Spring!

In this gloomy weather we’ve been having, let’s take our minds away to something brighter and cover the Spring ’18 forecast while we’re waiting for this year’s flowers to bloom.

The catwalks for Spring are giving us a huge variety of hair styles to choose from – a look for every mood! We have seen everything from big, beautiful curls to the sleek and elegant styles which never go out of date. We’re seriously spoiled for choice this season – no boring hairstyles here!

First up, we’re getting lots of major throwback vibes with the comeback of some accessories that won’t go unnoticed!

We are in lovee with the styling of the large detailed barrettes which we saw on the runways of Versace and Simone Rocha. These bold gold statement pieces and more delicate details of pearling and studs will bring a new life to your look when styled with a sleek middle or side parting. Or bring some femininity to your wild side – taming curls with pearls.

Keep calm for this next one – We also saw the return of scrunchies at Mansur Gavriel. Don’t hate it, just give lovingly into the trend and revel in their return like we all know you want to!

Sleek braids are everywhere this Spring, intricate detailing that will blow you away will get you ready for the festival season or a night at the Opera. These versatile braids will keep chic a word that’s pinned to your radar for months on end!

Christian Siriano

Jil Sander

For the effortless put together look we cannot fault the ponytail. This is a style that is timeless, not to mention elegant (and time saving!) no matter what decade. Whether sleek or dishevelled, we’ve witnessed it all on the runways of the top fashion icons, so no need to worry if your trip to the salon is a couple of weeks overdue. Just bundle your locks back off your face, style as preferred and slip into style.

Waves and curls are a go-to style that will forever be a fail-safe, but this Spring don’t be afraid to go big and bold! Brush out your beautiful curls for wonderful voluminous locks, make your hair the focus and stand out from the crowd with this statement style.
